dc.description.abstract | In a materialist and homogenized world that has been modernizing with the effect of globalization, unique and peculiar features of a place are being destroyed because of unsustainable development and wrong practice. Therefore, the "place" that is presented as an ideational model in architectural space and the "context" place introduces to the design have already lost their validity. For this reason, in order to create a locally and globally healthy and sustainable future, it is necessary to develop a new approach that starts in the education phase. In this context, the study focuses on "place-based design and education" approaches, which are developed for Architecture Department students of Kirklareli University, Faculty of Architecture to experience and understand in a versatile way and create a better design that would suit the place better, in an early phase of their education. Furthermore, the study also evaluates the effects of the mentioned approaches on students' awareness level and design process through the verbal feedback of students. © Peter Lang AG 2020. | en_US |
