Opposition in early republican era: Yarin newspaper and arif oruç

Abstract

Arif Oruç, one of the important opposition figures of the Early Republican Era, targeted the activities of the Single Party term with Yarin newspaper published between December 1929 and August 1931. In that period, the press often praised the economic policies; however, those policies were subject to severe criticism in the newspaper Yarin. Especially in Arif Oruc’s writings, it is seen that unjust enrichment of people who had close relations with the power was frequently addressed. This article aims to focus on a brief historical period of Turkey by giving special attention to the newspaper Yarin of Arif Oruç, in the eyes of the opponents who were not included in the cadre by politically, economically and intellectually. In this respect, a brief period of early Republican history will be re-evaluated in the eye of the opponents. © 2019, Hacettepe University. All rights reserved.
