ESTETİĞİ EGE’DE ARAMAK: DEMOKRİTOS VE MOUSİK Ê

Abstract

Felsefenin içinde özerk bir alan olarak estetiğin ortaya çıkışı onsekizinci yüzyıla tekabül etmektedir. Bu özerklik için kaynak aradığımızda ise Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten’ın Aesthetica adlı eseri genel bir kabul ile gösterilir. Baumgarten, bu eserde duyusal bilgiyi bilim olarak kurma ve güzel sanatları kavramsal olarak sistematize etme çabasını ele alır. Baumgarten’dan sonra Kant, Yargı Gücünün Eleştirisi’nde epistemolojik temelli estetik anlayışını titizlikle inşâ eder. Dikkatlerden kaçan nokta şudur: estetik özerklik kazanmadan önceki dönemlerde, özellikle felsefenin ortaya çıktığı ilk dönemlerden beri konu edinilmiştir. Tarihsel bir bakış açısıyla sistematik olarak güzel, sanat ya da sanatçı kavramları genellikle Aristoteles ve Platon’a kadar geri götürülür. Bu çalışmada ele alınmak istenen husus ise PreSokratik dönem filozoflarından birisi olan Demokritos’un felsefesinde de tıpkı Baumgarten ve Kant’ın estetiğe yaklaşımları gibi izlerin bulunduğunu göstermektir. Bu türden bir amaç için öncelikle Demokritos’un atomcu felsefesinin epistemolojik belirlemeleri ile aísthêsis bağlantısı serimlenecek; daha sonra onun mousikê adını verdiği müzik ve şiir temelli sanat anlayışının detayları açık kılınacaktır. Bu bağlamda, Platon ve Aristoteles’in estetiği ve Demokritos’un estetik kavrayışındaki benzerlikler tékhnê ve mímêsis terimleri üzerinden gösterilecektir. Aynı zamanda da Baumgarten ve Kant’ın estetik konusunda durduğu pozisyonun Demokritos felsefesindeki izleri açıklanacaktır.

The emergence of aesthetics as an autonomous field within philosophy corresponds to the eighteenth century. When we look for the resources of this autonomy, Alexander Gottlieb Baumgarten’s Aesthetica is shown with general acceptance. In this work, Baumgarten addresses the attempt to establish sensible knowledge as science and to systematize fine arts conceptually. After Baumgarten, Kant meticulously built his aesthetics that is founded epistemologically in Critique of the Power of Judgment. The point which escapes from attention is that aesthetics have been the subject of the period before autonomy, especially since the first periods when philosophy has emerged. From a historical point of view, beautiful, art and artist concepts are often dated back to Aristotle and Plato systematically. The aim of this study is to show that in philosophy of Democritus, who is one of the Pre-Socratic period philosophers, there are traces just like Baumgarten and Kant’s approach to aesthetics. For such a purpose, firstly the epistemological determinations of the atomic philosophy of Democritus and the aísthêsis connection will be presented; then, the details of this music and poetry-based art approach, which he named mousikê, will be clarified. In this context, the analogies between the aesthetic comprehension of Democritus and aesthetics of Plato and Aristotle will be shown through the terms of tékhnê and mímêsis. At the same time, the traces of Baumgarten and Kant’s position in aesthetics will be demonstared in philosophy of Democritus.
