Baha Tevfik'in batıcılık düşüncesinde yeri ve felsefe kampusu

Abstract

Özellikle 19. yüzyılın sonu ile 20. yüzyılın başlarında Osmanlı'da çöküşü önlemek, devleti ayakta tutmak ve topluma yeni bir düşünce hareketi getirebilmek amacıyla muhtelif fikir akımları ortaya çıkmıştır.. Bunların en önemlilerinden biri de içinde Baha Tevfik'in de bulunduğu Batıcılıktır. Baha Tevfik'in düşüncesinde Batı, zihniyet ve gelişmişlik itibarıyla gaye-i hayal olarak resmedilmiştir. Söz konusu gayenin, hayalden gerçeğe dönüşebilmesi için Baha Tevfik, felsefî planda fertlerin zihniyet yapısının dönüştürülmesini esas almıştır. Bu açıdan dilin sadeleşmesi ve sade bir dille felsefe kavramlarının oluşturulması önem arzetmiştir. Çünkü felsefî zihniyet ve ahlakın oluşabilmesi bir ölçüde felsefe kavramlarının vücut bulması ile ilgilidir.

Especially at the end of 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, various currents of thoughts emerged in the Ottoman Empire in order to prevent the fall, to sustain the government and to bring some fresh movements of thinking in. One of the most important of those movements was Occidental-ism- of which Baha Tevfik was a champion. In Baha Tevfik's thought, West is depicted as "gaye-i hayal" with regard to mentality and development. In order to turn this "gaye" in question to the reality, Baha Tevfik based his ideas on the transformation of mentality of individuals. In this respect, simplification of language and creating philosophical notions with this pure language became more of an issue. Since the development of the philosophical mind and morality begins to some extant with the shaping of philosophical notions.
