Cenab Şahabettin’e göre edebȋ tenkitte usûl

Abstract

Türk edebiyatının modernleşme serüveninin önemli evrelerinden biri olan Servet-i Fünûn neslinin önde gelen isimlerinde Cenap Şahabettin birçok edebî türde ürün vermiş; hem meydana getirdiği eserlerle hem edebiyat nazariyatı ile ilgili yazdığı yazılarla etki alanı oluşturmuştur. Edebî tenkit ise bir tür olarak bu dönemde Batılı normlar etrafında kuramsal bir çerçeveye oturtulmaya çalışılmıştır. Cenap Şahabettin de edebî tenkit sahasındaki kuramsal boşlukla ilgili fikir beyan etmiş, Türk edebiyatında bu türün gelişimi ve bir sistem dâhilinde ilerlemesi hususunda çaba sarf etmiştir. Edebî tenkit mevzuu üzerinden gerek Cenap özelinde gerekse dönem olarak çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Lakin Cenap’ın çizdiği tenkit usulü hakkında etraflıca bir açıklamaya girişilmemiştir. Bu çalışma Cenap Şahabettin’in belirli dönemlerde tenkitle ilgili yayımladığı yazılardan yola çıkarak edebî tenkitte usul hakkındaki görüşlerini ve hangi tenkit tür/türlerinden beslendiğini ortaya koymaya çalışacaktır.

Cenap Şahabettin, as one of the important figures of Servet-i Fünûn generation which was one of the important stages of the modernization for Turkish literature, produced many literary genres. He also had a significant impact upon literature with both the works he created and the articles he wrote about literature theory. In this period, literary criticism, as a genre, was aimed to be placed into a theoretical framework going along with Western norms. Cenap Şahabettin expressed his opinions about the theoretical gap in the field of literary criticism, made an effort for the development of this genre in Turkish literature and its progression within a system. Studies on the subject of literary criticism were conducted in terms of both Cenap and the period. However, a detailed explanation has not yet been made about the criticism drawn by Cenap. Starting with Cenap Şahabettin’s works on criticism, this study aims to present his views on literary criticism methods and what types of criticism(s) he made use of.
