Investigation of Structural and Architectural Properties of Historical Kastamonu Houses

Abstract

The destruction and desolation of historical environment is important not only in the architectural terms but also in cultural and historical values. Kastamonu, the city rich in historical and cultural heritage, is one of the most important settlements of the traditional Turkish house and of the near-term Ottoman architecture. In this study, the architectural and structural features of the Historical Kastamonu Houses are examined and the causes of damage to houses are mentioned in the light of this information.
