BUHARKENT MESLEK YÜKSEKOKULU’NDA ÖRGÜN ÖĞRETİM PROGRAMINDAKİ ÖĞRENCİLERİN “5i” UZAKTAN ÖĞRETİM DERSLERİNE KARŞI TUTUMLARI

Abstract

Uzaktan eğitim 1700’lü yıllara dayanan oldukça eski bir kavramolmasına rağmen, teknolojideki değişimle birlikte çeşitli şekillerdeuygulanmaya yaygınlaşarak devam etmiştir. Uzaktan eğitimle, öğrenci, öğretimelemanı ve hatta resmi eğitim kurumu ortamı fiziksel ve zamanla ilgilisınırların ötesine geçer. Bu günkü ortamda sadece uzaktan öğretim veren birçokkurumun yanında, örgün öğretimle birlikte uzaktan eğitimi müfredatında biraraya getirmiş yüksek öğrenim kurumları da bulunmaktadır. Çalışmamızda, her ikiöğretim şeklinin sistemli bir şekilde uygulamaya konulduğu Adnan MenderesÜniversitesi, Buharkent Meslek Yüksekokulu’nda, Büro Hizmetleri ve Sekreterlikve Alternatif Enerji Kaynakları Programında okuyan öğrencileri üzerindegerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmaya katılan öğrenciler tüm üniversite öğrencilerinehavuz şeklinde verilen Türk Dili, İnkılap Tarihi ve İngilizce dersleriniasenkron uzaktan eğitim formunda alırken, diğer yandan örgün öğretim derslerinede zorunluluk altında devam etmektedirler. Bu bağlamda, her iki öğretim türüyleilgili tecrübe sahibi olan öğrencilerin tecrübe ettikleri uzaktan eğitimsistemine yönelik görüşleri bir anketle değerlendirilmek istenmiştir. Bu amaçlaöğrencilerin hem demografik bilgileri araştırmacılarla oluşturulan kişiselbilgi formuyla toplanırken; geçerliliği ve güvenirliği kanıtlanmış anketyoluyla da düşüncelerine yönelik veriler toplanmış ve sonrasında SPSS 2.0istatistik paket programıyla temel ve betimsel istatistik araçlarıyla analizedilmiştir. Analiz sonucuna göre, örgün öğretim tecrübesine sahip olanöğrencilerin uzaktan eğitimle verilen havuz derslerine yönelik memnuniyetdüzeylerinin düşük olduğu görülmüştür. Bu sonucun hem çalışmaya konu olankurumumuz hem de benzer çalışmalar planlayan diğer kurumlar için önemli birgösterge olduğu değerlendirilmektedir.

Although distance education is a quite oldconception since 1700s, its applications have been varied and proliferated inparallel to advancement in technology. In this education form, student,instructor and even official education institution environment go beyondspatial and temporal boundaries. In our contemporary time, there are highereducation institutions which combine formal and distance education in theircurriculum besides numbers of higher education institutions providing distanceeducation. This study was conducted at the Adnan Menderes University in whichboth formal and distance education methods are applied. Students from theOffice Services and Secretariat Department and Alternative Energy ResourcesDepartment were included in the study. All participant students were receivingcourses of Turkish Literature, History of Turksih Revolution and Englishoffered to all university students in a pool system, on the other hand theywere receiving courses in formal education. In this sense, opinions of studentswho experience both types of education methods about the distance educationwere tried to be determined. To this end, while students’ demographical datawas collected by means of personal information form prepared for this study;their opinions were collected by means of a survey whose validity andreliability were ensured. Then, collected data analyzed in the SPSS 20.0 statisticalpackage software for basic and descriptive statistical tools. As a result ofthe analysis, it was determined that students displayed low level ofsatisfaction with courses given through distance education. This result isconsidered as a significant indicator in terms of both our universitypracticing distance education and of other institutions planning similarapplications.
