Since its existence, human beings have produced various solutions in order to overcome the problems they face. These solutions have sometimes been simple vehicle designs for everyday use while sometimes they have been complex solutions that affect the areas where humans live or the areas which grow bigger to become cities and regions. At first, the problems resulted in day-to-day solutions that ignored the destruction of natural resources. As a result of disease, epidemics, and natural disasters, human beings who have started to live together due to job opportunities or more favorable living conditions have been forced to develop and comply with certain standards and rules in order to maintain their living conditions. This requirement forms the basis of today's design and planning standardization. The concepts of design and planning are competing with each other and even completing each other. Geodesign is a multidisciplinary approach that combines natural features with design and planning processes, facilitating the production of alternative scenarios for the future. In this chapter, the definition of geodesign for sustainability of landscape, its historical development, workflows, and applicable examples are presented. © Peter Lang AG 2020.en_US
