THE TABLE AND THE RULE OF TABLE MANNERS IN AMUCA BEKTASHIS
Abstract
Religion, as a social institution, is a phenomenon that has an impact on each phase of life. It is possible to say that, one of the main issues which we encountered frequently about the religion phenomenon is food and beverage culture. The religion which adopted by each society consists of its own beliefs and rituals. In the course of time, from birth to death of the human race, many events (birth, marriage, death, etc.) found its place on religious beliefs and rituals. The religion, on this chain of events, has affected people's food culture, as well as every aspect of their lives. People tend to behave according to the requirements of the religion which they are connected to. Various religions are full of a variety of beliefs about the food. On Islamism, one of the divine religons, there are many sects. In this study, Amuca Bektashis who live in Thrace and the Balkans were selected as the research subject. Nowadays, the society is called as Amucas. This society survives with the faith of Seyh Bedreddin, Bektashi (Babagan's branch) and Sunni beliefs. On the historical records, the name of the tribe appears as Ammi, Emmie, Ammaca, Amuga, Amuca and Amuca Sons. In this study, above mentioned society's table and the rule of table manners were examined.
